” twenty five.
all that work
for me. i’m
almost
touched. ”
Which meant she’d royally fucked off whoever
was footing the bill. That meant she hadn’t
been able to patch up someone important to
them. Or that she’d dropped one of his men.
Worse, she could’ve
sold information on
them.
That always left her
in a shitty position.
” conditions. i want a name. in fact,
i want you to walk me in there —
because i don’t pay people to do
my dirty work. ”
There’d been a time she would’ve
cringed at shedding blood. Now.
It was all part of surviving. At least
she still had the respect to pull
the trigger herself.
” and then i want to
make a deal. so
that any other
prick willing to put
a price on my name
doesn’t get what he
wants —
and trust me, i can outbid anyone. ”

“I know right? I would
have done it for ten,
but hey it was his money
to waste. I’m not gonna
argue.”
Really he wasn’t. It was money in
his pocket and that was the only
thing he cared about. Wade was
in the business of dealing with
whoever had the biggest check
with his name on it. At the moment,
she wasn’t it.
“Lots of demands for a lil
girl who’s got a bounty on
her head.”
Still… he could make an exception. She
was cute and screamed dangerous.
Just the kind of person that caught his
attention.
“Now if we’re talking escort
service, I charge extra for
that. But his name was Frank.
Some fat fuck with a cheap
suit and a terrible comb over.
Kind of like Donald Trump
only not a wig. Never got a
last name, didn’t bother. I’m
in the don’t ask, don’t tell business.
Would be bad for work if I start
poking my nose into things.
Oh, if we’re gonna be working together.
We should be better acquainted. Name’s
Wade, but better known as Deadpool.”
” the more you talk, the more
tempting pulling the trigger
is. ”
She’s cautious.
Not scared, but
cautious.
Of course, that doesn’t
mean she’s opening
her wallet to bribe him
into hitting the road.
” and it doesn’t bug you that
some sleaze — and let’s be
honest, no one reputable is
paying you to kill a doctor -
just owns you ‘cause he says
he’ll pay up if you pulls the
trigger?
and you believed him? ”
“Been told that one before.”
Wade kept himself perfectly still, yet not a sign of any type of distress coming from him. For most the situation would be unsettling, but for him it was just a part of the job. Risks came and it must have said something since she hadn’t pulled the trigger yet. Maybe he had the chance of talking his way out of having to kill her and end up with a bigger paycheck.
“Maybe, but then again you aren’t just some doctor now are you?
Look. I wouldn’t have taken the job if I didn’t end up with a deposit.
Five grand, cash, in a really nice briefcase. Another 20 grand when you wind up dead.

So, doc, what’s it gonna be?
Shoot me in the back and piss me off which leads me to killing you?
Or we gonna try to work something out?”
” i’m a doctor, not a murderer.
i’d only kill you if i had to. i
can sleep soundly knowing
i’ve paralysed you from the
waist down, though.
assuming you don’t wise
up and leave. ”She’s not bloodthirsty. Then again.
She used to argue that she wasn’t
violent either, and now she carries
all the time. Even uses threats and
force as a first resort to problem
solving.
People changed.
” humor me. what are
you looking for? ask
nicely and i might be
able to help. but
when someone lies
to get in my front door
chances are i’m not
going to want to help. ”

So the threat of being paralyzed didn’t sound too appealing. Even with his healing factor Wade knew it’d be a bitch to heal over. It wasn’t as though his body would just eject the bullet out of his spine. It’d take time, time he really didn’t want to waste. Then again digging it out wouldn’t be too bad….
Still he listened to her rather than acted. Wade hadn’t bothered to do much research on her, knew just enough to know she was dangerous and had medical background. Learning too much would mean he’d question if his target really deserved death.
“Well, I’m not planning on leaving.” He stated after a moment, even with the threat that lingered. Now it was his turn to actually talk, but what exactly did he say? Tell her the truth? Then there was the chance she’d flee…but they were in a room together. The chance of her getting away now was slim.
“I never lied. Not exactly. I do know where you can get some organs if ya want, but that’s not why I’m here. Name’s Deadpool. Might’ve heard of me, Charlie. If not lemme school you a moment. I’m a mercenary and there’s a pretty little stack of cash with my name all over it if I kill ya. So I say either you put the bullet in me and just tick me off or maybe you can offer me more than the guy who wants you dead.”
─{What are you doing?}
“Negotiating for more cash. Not the first time I’ve turned against a contract.”
And she’s definitely pegged him
as an addict. ‘Cause anyone less
desperate and with more foresight
wouldn’t have turned their back on
her for a second.
Learn by doing right?
Moving her hand to retrieve the kimber
from underneath the back of her shirt,
she took a step forward and nudged
the muzzle against the base of his
spine, flicking the safety off.
” so. you hear about someone
practising medicine illegally.
on some of the most
dangerous scum on the street.
and you waltz in here like you
think i don’t carry a gun and
know the perfect place to dump
a body. ”” all for a quick fix?
should’ve held up
a pharmacy. ”
What to do, what to do…
The situation wasn’t anything new. The mistake wasn’t on his for turning his back to her. In fact this was exactly what he’d been hoping for in a way. Get inside where whatever bloodshed happened would be contained, not that he planned on doing any clean up. Anyone come poking around find all her goodies that he was sure was stored someplace in the home would assume it was justified.
There was a slow glance over his shoulder at the sound of the safety being clicked. Completely calm. What was the worst that would happen to him? A bullet being lodged into his spine? Bleed out? He’d done worse to himself.

“Quick fix isn’t exactly what I’m lookin’ for.
Go ahead, pull the trigger.”
He was taunting her. Curious as to what she would do actually. Pull the trigger and try to dump the body? Actually that could make things interesting. Die here, let her play clean up and take his body somewhere just to wake up and really give her a surprise attack. It sounded.. fun actually.
“Though I think if you were gonna shoot me, you woulda done it already.”
” what was his name.
this friend of a friend
of a friend — ? ”
Keeping what she did hush hush involved
trusting her partners not to screw her over.
It also meant never keeping bodies, or
their parts, in her house. She ordered organs
as required.
Which meant she knew
bullshit when she heard
it. Only she was under
the impression he was a
junkie looking for a fix.
It wouldn’t be the first time.
” actually. how about you
come in? better not to
talk on the street. ”And she motions him in ahead of her
waiting for him to move.
Shit. Name.
He should have thought that out a bit more. Wade searched his mind for the most common name he could think of. Anything that wouldn’t give him away and even the voices were useless at coming up with something.
"Uhh.. Fran..cis?“
He offered with a small shrug. It was the best he could come up with. And even then it wasn’t exactly the most popular name. He mentally kicked himself for it. Michael or Peter or even Logan were more popular names. Yet he settled for Francis. Something told him she was already on to him, though.
Maybe it was the way she stood or the fact she set off every single internal alarm he had. Either way when she offered him inside, he was eager to accept it. Anything to make him look like a sketchy man looking for a fix or something. At least that was better than her thinking he was here to kill her.
"Nice place.”
He murmured as he stepped in. His gaze moving all around the room, letting his back stay to her. Anything to keep an illusion that he wasn’t dangerous. It always worked out best if he seemed oblivious to the obvious.

” that depends on
who you are and
why you’re on my
doorstep. ”No absolute confirmation. It’s a
cautionary measure. She works
for and with a lot of nasty types.
That means trouble is something
she ends up in more often than
not and — it’s probably not obvious,
but she doesn’t have a death wish.
She manages a careful smile and
shifts her hand just slightly. You could never be too careful.
Typical response when the correct answer was yes. That was a bit of a disappointment that he managed to shove aside, instead focusing instead on what he was sent here to do. Pulling a gun out and putting a bullet through her skull would be too messy. Though now that he thought about it… he really had no plan when he’d strolled up to her door.

Wait. Didn’t her file say doctor or something? Or did I make that up?

“Name’s Wilson. A friend of a friend of a friend told me I might have some product you could be interested in. You know, the kinda stuff that goes thump thump and sells for a pretty penny. Nice and fresh too if you catch my drift, hunnybuns.”
─{Really? Hunnybuns?}

When being paid to take out a person by the name of Charlie, well, Wade’s first thought is some man with a beer belly, glasses, a receding hairline and definitely a pretty girl who looked rather…well…pissed off. That seemed to be the story of his life, though. Get a job, assume one thing and it be completely different.
“I uh…”
─[Is this really who we’re suppose to kill? She’s kinda hot.]
─{Kinda hot in the sense that I bet she can kick our ass.]
“Maybe we got the wrong person.”
Talking out loud to the voices was nothing new and didn’t phase the mercenary as he stood there in front of her, shamelessly checking her out. Snap back to reality, he shook his head before cocking a brow curiously.
“You don’t happen to be.. Charlie? Right?”
